Winchester History
Winchester is a mid-sized city located in Hampshire with a population of 45,184 (National Census, 2011), Winchester is thought to have originally been a Roman settlement known as ‘Venta Belgarum’.
Winchester Cathedral is one of the main landmarks of the city. It is also one of the largest cathedrals in all of Europe, with the longest overall length of any Gothic cathedrals in Europe.
